Five Key Mobility Trends for 2019

Through our broad and diverse client base, Servicengine has a unique perspective on the mobility industry.   These are five Key Mobility Trends that will impact the global workforce and cross-border moves in 2019.

1. Lump Sum and Cash Allowances

With the rise of Millennials in the workforce more employees are seeking flexibility and choice. Companies are responding with a focus on employee experience and a move toward lump-sum and cash payments.

2. Diversity & Inclusion (D&I)

Companies are putting increased emphasis on diversity and inclusion by expanding eligibility and updating policies to meet current employee needs that include same sex partners, split families and single mothers.

3. Employee-Initiated Moves

Talent for commuters, business travelers and traditional assignees is expanding globally. Millennials in particular are hungry for international career experience. Employee-initiated moves are now including popular travel options with instant access, such as Airbnb, Uber and Kayak. Cross-border compliance remains a challenge and for those moves employees are required or encouraged to stick with the corporate travel system.

4. Core-Flex Policies

More companies are rolling-out core-flex’ policies that offer a combination of standard and flexible relocation benefits. Employers are taking a creative approach to insuring the satisfaction of assignees by developing business-aligned policies and alternative benefit offerings for long-term assignments. The balance between cost savings and satisfaction by assignees is still a challenge.

5. Instant Mobile Access

The rising use of mobile technology to improve expatriate communication, tracking and reporting is immeasurable. As assignees continue to transition globally, more companies rely on data analytics to improve decision-making.
